Over the last fifteen years, £800 million has been invested into York’s science and technology infrastructure, resulting in a strong network of more than 500 science and technology related businesses.

York is home to a thriving community of 100 IT, electronics, software and digital industries businesses employing more than 2,400 people. The city is also leading the way on the Smart Cities agenda, with ground-breaking projects and partners including Science City York, Bosch and ARUP.

The Digital Creativity Labs, based at the University of York, is a major £18 million investment between three UK research councils, four universities and over 80 collaborative partner organisations. The labs are an international centre of excellence for impact-driven research, focusing on digital games, interactive media and the space where they converge.

Being based in York at the Science Park provides a stimulating environment for entrepreneurs, researchers and organisations from the digital industries to collaborate and innovate which ever sector they are in.
