York Science Park CEO Tracey Smith wins 'Business Personality of the Year' at the York Press Business Awards 2016.

Tracey Smith, CEO of York Science Park was awarded the York Press Business Award for 'Business Personality of the Year' at the glittering ceremony held in November.  

The judges commended Tracey on her years of dedicated service to the park and resident companies, and her tireless efforts to build an incredibly impressive network of contacts. 

Tracey said she was "absolutely delighted" with the award, and that her job was an easy one - due to the number of innovative enterprises in York.

“I couldn’t do what I do in the city without the support of my fantastic team at the science park, so this is for them, really.

2016 marks the 25th Anniversary of York Science Park.

To mark their year of celebration, the Science Park commissioned an official 25th Anniversary Economic Impact Report, sponsored key events in the business calendar, and celebrated with a 25th Anniversary Reception, and residents summer party.

About the Biorenewables Development Centre: The BDC is a University of York subsidiary, working at the interface between academia and industry to develop and scale-up new biorefining technologies using biomass and biowastes as feedstocks. Current activities include collaborative projects to develop a new variety of rapeseed oil for use as an industrial lubricant; looking at ways of turning food by-products into pharmaceuticals and assessing the pre-treatment of straw for anaerobic digestion. Since 2012, their multidisciplinary team of chemists and biologists has worked on over 350 bio-based projects with SMEs, multinationals and leading academics world-wide.
