York is one of the happiest UK cities to live and work in

When it comes to the north of England, nowhere is happier than York.

Our city is the fourth happiest city to live in in the UK, a survey has found.

Two thirds of the residents feel happy on a daily basis according to a survey by CV Library.

The report’s authors say:

  • Known for its incredible history, there are several reasons why professionals in the city are some of the happiest.
  • This could be down to its high employment rates, excellent transport connections and fantastic education.

Indeed, The University of York became part of the Russell Group in 2012 and is now one of the leading universities in the world. In addition, top companies in the city include the likes of Network Rail, Aviva, Northern Rail and more!

The accolade follows York being named the best city to live in by the Sunday Times in 2018.

That same year it became the most summer-friendly city to visit in Britain.

And in 2017 it was found to be the most festive city in the country.

According to the survey, the happiest workers reside in Brighton (86.4%), Swansea (75%) and Glasgow (70.6%).
