Welcome To Women In Tech York’s October Event!

Who are we?

We are a community of like-minded people studying, working or interested in technology. Our goal is to run events in which we can share our knowledge and interests as well as encourage and empower one another. This event is not exclusive to women; we welcome anyone passionate about tech and increasing diversity in the field.

We also welcome all students who are interested in learning more about Tech, and the careers it entails.

This month…

We’ll be talking about building great teams with talks from Jamie Nguyen and Bethan Vincent.

Jamie has had a varied career as a medical doctor, freelance software developer, senior manager in technology, and as a life-long volunteer in Christian churches. Jamie’s ability as a people manager and strategic leader has been formed in a range of challenging environments.

Bethan is the Marketing Director at Netsells, a Development Agency based in York that builds platforms and products across web and mobile. Bethan came into the tech sector after completing a degree in Medieval History and developing an ethical certification product. Through her work on defining ethical business practices and inspired by her unusual journey into tech, Bethan has become extremely passionate about encouraging diversity (in all forms) and inclusiveness in our sector. Outside of work, Bethan likes to write (sometimes questionable) code, meet interesting people and work on her podcast – The Brave, which explores the subject of resilience.

As always, there will be a free buffet (vegetarian and vegan options avaliable) thanks to our sponsors Isotoma, Netsells and Piksel.
