York Business Week: Go behind the scenes at the city's most successful businesses
SOME of the city’s largest businesses are opening their doors as part of York Business Week to share the secrets of their success.

Well-known names including Benenden, Hiscox, Nestlé, Portakabin and Siemens are amongst the line-up for York Business Week - which runs from Tuesday, November 13 - as well as accountancy firm Garbutt & Elliott, which is celebrating its 170th anniversary this year.

Andrew Sharp, head of business at York Business Week organisers Make it York, said: “York Business Week will showcase the world class businesses that we have in York and is designed to help businesses to gain the knowledge and inspiration to secure their own long-term future success and help to futureproof the city’s economy.

“The 11 businesses opening their doors employ thousands of people contributing significantly to the York economy. Everyone from a start-up to a larger organisation will be able to learn something from these world class businesses.

“There is a wide range of events taking place throughout the week from a showcase conference at York Racecourse that kicks off the week to workshops, award ceremonies and interviews with leading business personalities.

“It’s going to be a fantastic week!”

Other businesses opening their doors during York Business Week include bus operator First York, Langleys Solicitors, engineering company TSP Projects, and video solution company Piksel.

TSP Projects has worked on some the UK’s largest infrastructure projects including the redevelopment of King’s Cross Station, the Thameslink Programme and Gatwick Airport Station.

The design team will share insights into the use of cutting-edge technology including 3D modelling and Virtual Reality.

Piksel provides bespoke online video technology, internet and cloud solutions to some of the media industry’s biggest names, including Channel 4, Sky, AT&T and Liberty Global.

It will share its secrets to delivering high quality services and achieving exceptional customer retention.

Make it York is expecting to welcome 1,000 people to the city for York Business Week, which runs from 13–19 November with a wide range of events across the city.
