Business Week is to return for 7th year
YORK business week is returning for its seventh year next week with more than 35 events being staged across the city.

The annual five day festival of business starts on Monday 20, featuring events being held throughout York to celebrate, promote and encourage local enterprise.

Steve Brown, managing director of Make It York, who led the co-ordination of this year’s event, said: “When you look at the programme there is really something for everyone involved in business, which is great.

“The programme is designed for mixing and matching and ensuring there is a variety of interesting things for people to pick from.”

Many of York’s key business organisations are involved with events being organised by Make It York, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, York Professionals, York BID and Guild of Entrepreneurs, to name a few. All events are individually bookable in a bid to allow people to take a “pick and mix” approach to the week.

Main events include SUPERNetworking on Monday, the launch of York’s Top 100 Businesses on Wednesday and The Press Business Awards on Thursday.

Emma Smailes of FSB North Yorkshire Region, which has orgnaised the SUPERNetworking event on Monday 20, said: “York Business Week is such a great coming together of all things business in York.

“Businesses, support organisations such as ourselves, the council and education, all working together to inspire people to set up in business in York, celebrate the awesome businesses we have in the city and help them to grow and achieve their ambitions.”

Making its debut during this year’s Business Week is the launch of York’s Top 100 business list.

David Norris, deputy dean at York Business School said “The York Business School at York St John University has worked with Make it York and The Press to produce the first ever Top 100 list of businesses headquartered in the city. We look forward to welcoming the businesses listed at the launch event on November 22.”

Throughout the week are seminars, workshops and networking events, delivered by individual businesses, and covering topics ranging from enhancing your sales techniques to developing your management skills and team engagement to improving how to find and look after your customers.
